KENAFRIC CONSULTING
Youths Against Disasters (Yads) do not only prepare and respond to disasters but we also prepare other organizations to adequately make a big difference in saving lives and protecting property through our training firm Kenafric Consulting.
Kenafric Consulting was founded in June 2013 and registered in Kenya on 1st April, 2014 as a National Disaster Risk Reduction consulting firm and we have continued to expand our network while providing high value added consultancy services that assist our clients in disaster and emergency preparedness and response with the aim of reducing disaster risk for sustainable community development.
We have a team of professionals with the experience and skill base, dedicated to research and the need to meet our client goals at all times, that will equip your human resource with the necessary and relevant skills and knowledge and be prepared for any kind of hazard since we carry out hazard mapping and vulnerability assessment of your workplace before commencement of training.
Specifically we maintain a flexible team enabling us to immediately engage specifically skilled and expert resources in response to an organization urgent need. As a specialist in training for emergency/disaster preparedness and response, we are currently offering course for staff at all levels to enable them respond professionally to any situation.
Though it may not be possible to completely prevent a hazard from occurring, we ensure that we empower the organization to find their locally owned solutions to the problems causing disaster vulnerability and this reduces the effects of the hazard on the organization.
We place strong emphasis on organizational preparedness and tailor our trainings to the needs of the organization.
The major areas covered in our training include:
a) Introduction to disaster management
The participants are introduced to the concepts relevant to disaster management and then to the various phases of the disaster management cycle namely:
i) The emergency/disaster mitigation phase where hazard mapping and preventive technology, structural and non structural measures are introduced for hazards identified as specific to the organization and general hazards affecting the larger community.
ii) The emergency/disaster preparedness phase involves training on measures the organization can put in place to adequately prepare emergency plans (preparedness plan, response plan, contingency plan etc) and create awareness on the same.
iii) The emergency/disaster response phase prepare the organization on the activation of the disaster/emergency response plan, allocation of resources and the establishment of the emergency operation centre and the incident command system.
iv) The emergency/ disaster recovery phase training prepares the organization on how to bring back the organization to where it were before the disaster and make the organization even more resilient to the disaster should the hazard occur again in the future.
